Day 1 Inservice

Reflection:

I'm becoming an old fogey:

  • It takes me longer than my peers to get anywhere online.
  • I don't enjoy tweeting.
  • Second Life just isn't the thrill it used to be. I mean, I'm stuck in a wall and can't get out. I'm just flailing about.
  • Too much fruit is problematic...
On the other hand:
  • I like Zombie literature.
  • I agree with Jane McGonigal's premises in "Reality is Broken".
  • Coming to an in-service with Oregon Online colleagues is energizing.
  • I LOVE teaching online.
  • I'm still learning and soaking it in.
  • Change is exciting!

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” –Michael Jordan

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” -George Bernard Shaw

“20 years from now you will be disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the one’s you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain

If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies.  ~Author Unknown

We would rather be ruined than changed;
We would rather die in our dread
Than climb the cross of the moment
And let our illusions die.
~W.H. Auden

The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.  ~Japanese Proverb

Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.  ~Dwight D. Eisenhower

The only man I know who behaves sensibly is my tailor; he takes my measurements anew each time he sees me.  The rest go on with their old measurements and expect me to fit them.  ~George Bernard Shaw
